Before we arrive

What to have ready.

A little preparation keeps your appointment quick and avoids a second trip.

  • Photo ID for every signer

A current, government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, state ID, or passport.

  • Your complete, unsigned document

Please don't sign ahead of time. You'll sign in front of the notary.

  • Everyone who needs to sign

Every signer must be present at the appointment.

  • Witnesses, if required

If your document needs witnesses, arrange them before we arrive. Each witness brings a photo ID, stays for the whole signing, and watches you sign. We can't advise on who qualifies; the attorney or organization that prepared the document can.

  • Access to the location

For hospitals and care facilities, check visiting rules and let staff know we're coming.

Pricing and travel

$10 per notarized signature, plus travel.

Our notary fee follows North Carolina's fee schedule. Mobile appointments also include a travel fee for actual round-trip travel, as North Carolina law permits.

How travel works

  • Mileage at the current IRS business rate, estimated before we travel
  • You agree to it in writing first
  • No travel fee without your written agreement

Example

  • Two signers, one document: 2 notarized signatures = $20
  • Plus the travel fee you agreed to

We confirm your total when we confirm your appointment.

Tell us when you book if your document needs witnesses, and arrange them before the appointment. Here's what each witness needs.

Valid photo ID

Each witness brings a current, government-issued photo ID.

Present for the whole signing

Witnesses stay from the start of the signing until it is complete.

Watches you sign

Witnesses observe the signing so they can attest to it.

Qualified for your document

Some documents have rules about who can serve as a witness. The attorney or organization that prepared your document can tell you who qualifies.

Yes. Our mobile notary service is available now in Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, Gaston, Catawba, Rowan, Iredell and Lincoln counties, for homes, offices, hospitals, and care facilities. Start your notarization by uploading your documents. We review them first, then you pay and choose a time. Your travel fee is agreed in writing before you pay.

A current, government-issued photo ID for each signer, such as a driver's license, state ID, or passport. Online sessions add two identity checks on the platform: an electronic check of your ID (credential analysis) and a short set of questions drawn from public records that only you should be able to answer (knowledge-based authentication).

Only if your document requires them. Health care powers of attorney and living wills, for example, need two qualified witnesses. If your document needs witnesses, tell us when you book. Each witness brings a valid photo ID, attends the whole signing, and watches you sign. Questions about who qualifies as a witness should go to the attorney or organization that prepared the document.

Under North Carolina law, these can't be notarized remotely: self-proved wills, codicils, trusts and trust amendments (a certification of trust is allowed), parental-rights relinquishments, mail-in absentee ballots, and verifications or proofs by a witness. North Carolina doesn't allow wills to be signed electronically, so wills and codicils are signed on paper, in person. Vehicle titles are also notarized on paper, in person.

Health care powers of attorney and living wills can be notarized online, but they need two qualified witnesses; for an online session, your witnesses should be in the room with you. A power of attorney notarized online must be recorded with a North Carolina Register of Deeds. The online limits don't apply to an active-duty service member, spouse or dependent on a military base or vessel outside the U.S. under orders of more than 120 days.

This is general information, not legal advice. Your attorney can confirm the requirements for your document.

Our fees are per notarized signature: $25 for remote online notarization (launching soon), $15 for in-person electronic notarization (coming soon), and $10 for traditional paper notarization. Mobile appointments are $10 per notarized signature plus a travel fee that we disclose and you agree to in writing before we travel. See pricing

No. Notaries can't give legal advice, choose documents, or draft them. If you aren't sure what you need, please contact a North Carolina attorney or the organization asking for the document.
